In April 2017, popular illustration artist Brian “KAWS” Donnelly released a line of t-shirts, tote bags and plush toys with Japanese retailer Uniqlo. This collaboration also borrowed elements from Snoopy, a pet beagle in Charles M. Schulz’s Peanuts.
One of the grail items was an all-black Snoopy toy with x-shaped eyes. Priced at as low as $14.90, the clothing line was affordable to most of the consumers. On the day of release, items sold out in approximately three minutes on the web store.
